Meet Madison

Madison Townsend is a Speech Language Pathologist in Lakeland, Florida. Madison is insured, certified by the Florida Department of Health, and has a Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. 

 

Madison is passionate about helping children of all abilities to communicate and believes deeply that all children deserve a voice. She started Townsend Speech & Language Therapy after 10 years of experience in serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities, 5 of those years in the public school systems of Florida and Illinois. 

 

During her Masters program she specialized in providing in-home therapy and caregiver coaching through her grant work with the Autism Spectrum Specialization Education Training Program (ASSET). Madison knows that parents are the best experts of their children. Accordingly, she utilizes a team-based approach to include the child, the family and the therapist. She has experience working with children ages 2-21 with a variety of speech and language disorders. Her passion is working with children on the Autism Spectrum to communicate using a play-based approach while focusing on their strengths. Madison has experience working with a variety of AAC devices as well as children with hearing loss. Madison is well versed in supporting children with behavioral challenges. She also specializes in treating toddlers with expressive/receptive language delays. 

 

She has a Masters in Speech Language Pathology from Florida State University and a Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Ohio University.
